Collins Street

Collins Street exudes style and glamour. It's a boulevard of chic designer shopping, five-star hotels, exclusive jewellers, grand heritage buildings and private clubs. It's also the city's premier commercial streetscape and home to big corporations and the stock exchange.

Flagship stores include Chanel, Giorgio Armani, Tiffany & Co, and Louis Vuitton. A more relaxed shopping style can be found further west, in the mid section of Collins Street between Swanston and Elizabeth streets, where the bustling retail centres of The Block Arcade and Australia on Collins house many chain and concept stores.

The Collins Street Precinct

The Collins Street Precinct is the longest serving group with over ten years of dedicated service to the Collins Street area which is bounded by Spring Street and Queen Street including; lands, buildings and retail establishments that run along Collins Street forming part of this unique street.   We believe Collins Street offers the most unique shopping experience in Australia.

History of Collins Street

temp20_s.jpg

Collins Street is named after Lieutenant-Governor David Collins, who led a large expedition of convicts, women, children, soldiers and public servants to establish a settlement near Sorrento on the southern shore of Port Phillip Bay.

temp19_s.jpgCity of Melbourne Precincts

The City of Melbourne District Precinct Program 2007-2010 engages local trader associations to commercially develop and enhance retail precincts.

The program focuses on enhancing established areas of retail and consumer significance within the municipality via event and marketing related activities.

The implementation of the program takes place via the establishment of districts, with each district represented by a relevant business association. City of Melbourne assists Districts and individual precinct associations with retail development opportunities and issues relating to precinct environment.
