Songkran Festival at Longrain

Songkran, or the Thai New Year, arrives this April and with it, the ritual of water. Poured slowly, splashed joyfully, it carries the same meaning however it lands: a washing away of what was, and a welcome to what comes next.

We mark it at Longrain the only way we know how. At the table.

This year, we’re bringing a khao soi with beef to the menu. The great noodle dish of the North, rich with coconut milk and layered with the slow warmth of dried spices. Our version begins with beef, charred over an open flame before being immersed in a deeply golden, turmeric-stained broth. Crisp fried noodles arrive on top for texture; a tangle of pickled mustard greens, shallots and a wedge of lime sit alongside to make it yours.
